How to measure for covers, sails and screens
A tape measure is enough. Covers: the widest points with the chairs pushed in, then a cover 0.8-2 in (2-5 cm) wider and deeper. Sails: the shortest distance between anchors, with 12-17.5 in (30-45 cm) per corner for hardware. Screens: the clear opening, with 0.8 in (2 cm) of flat frame at the top and sides.
Furniture covers
- Push the chairs in and arrange the furniture the way you'll cover it.
- Measure the widest length and width, and the highest point, armrests included.
- Pick a cover 0.8-2 in (2-5 cm) longer and wider than that. Keep the hem off the ground so air can move.
Shade sails
- Choose three structurally sound anchor points.
- Measure the shortest distance between any two of them.
- Allow 12-17.5 in (30-45 cm) at every corner for tensioning hardware.
Mounting hardware isn't included. Have your anchor points checked before you install.
Magnetic door screens
- Measure the clear opening at its widest and highest point.
- Check for 0.8 in (2 cm) of flat mounting surface at the top and on both sides.
- The mesh overlaps the opening and hangs straight, skimming just above the floor.
Good to know
Size names are in inches, or feet for sails; one inch is 2.54 cm. Measure the actual furniture, not its original product listing.
Covers should never seal airtight at ground level: airflow lets moisture escape. Give rain a way off with a gentle high point, and avoid flat pockets where water collects.
Fitting your patio covers
Before fitting Patio furniture covers, bring outdoor cushions inside during wet weather and ensure furniture surfaces are completely dry. Once the cover is in place, pull the drawstring hem snug around the base and fasten the buckle straps, keeping the hem off the ground so moisture can escape. Hanging magnetic door screens
Fitting the Flux Magnetic Mesh Door Screen takes no tools. Wipe the 0.8 in (2 cm) flat border of your doorframe clean and dry, then press the included hook-and-loop tape along the top of the frame, adding push pins if you want extra hold. Questions
What if nothing fits?
The largest Haven Shield cover is 124 x 63 x 29 in, the largest chaise cover 83 x 30 x 16 x 31 in and the larger Flux screen fits openings up to 37 x 82 in. The smallest sail, 6.6 ft a side, needs anchors at least 104 in apart. For wider doors, there is a made-to-measure Flux screen in widths from 59 to 118 in. Outside that range, contact us about your space.
