How to choose an outdoor furniture cover

Start with the piece you want to protect. A single chair needs a different cover than a stacked set or a chaise lounge. Check the shape first, then the material, then the fastening. A cover that fits well and stays put will do more for your furniture than a loose one that flaps in the wind.

Think about where the furniture sits. Full sun, heavy rain, snow and dust all put different demands on a cover. If your patio gets strong wind, look for a drawstring hem or buckle straps. If condensation is a concern, a cover with vents helps air move.

Sizes and measuring

Measure your furniture before you shop. For chairs, note the back height, back width, seat width and seat depth. Care and storage
