What this cover is and what it is made of

The Aegis Air Conditioner Cover is a protective cover for air conditioning units. It is made of polyester cloth, a fabric that holds up well outdoors and wipes clean without much effort. The cover is waterproof, dust-proof and sunproof, so it blocks the three things that wear on an outdoor unit the most: rain, grit and direct sunlight. It also helps slow down machine ageing, which keeps your unit looking better and running longer between replacements.

This is a simple, practical cover. It slips over the unit, stays put and comes off just as fast when you need to run the AC again. There are no tools and no assembly.

Sizes

The cover comes in three sizes. Measure your unit before you order so you get a close fit.

Measure the width, height and depth of your unit, then pick the size that matches or is slightly larger. A little extra room is fine. A cover that is too small will not sit properly.

Color

The cover comes in light gray. The neutral tone blends with siding, trim and most outdoor walls, so it does not stand out when the unit is not in use. Light gray also hides dust and light dirt well between cleanings.

How to fit and use it

1. Turn off the unit and let it cool if it has been running.
2. Slide the cover over the top and down the sides. The cover is designed to drape over the unit and cover the top, front and sides.
3. Check that the cover sits evenly and does not block vents you need open while the unit runs.
4. Remove the cover before you turn the AC back on. The cover is for protection when the unit is off, such as during the off season or a long stretch of bad weather.
5. Fold the cover and store it in a dry spot when it is not in use.

For window units, fit the cover over the outdoor portion of the unit. For outdoor units, fit it over the cabinet. If your unit has a top discharge fan, keep the cover off while the unit runs.

Care

The cover is easy to clean. Shake off loose dust and dirt, then wipe the surface with a damp cloth. For a deeper clean, hand wash with mild soap and water, then let it air dry fully before you put it back on the unit. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Store the cover dry to keep it in good shape for the next season.
