What this shade sail is

This triangle canopy blocks sun over a patio, pool, deck, garden or driveway. The fabric is Oxford polyester with a PU coating. It is waterproof and UV-resistant.

The sail lets rain through instead of pooling on top. That keeps the fabric from sagging under the weight of water. Each corner has a D-ring, which gives you a strong, simple anchor point for rope or cable.

This is a single-piece sail. Mounting hardware is not included, so plan your posts, hooks or anchors before it arrives.

Measure the span between your anchor points, not just the open area you want to shade. A sail needs a little slack so it can pull tight without stressing the seams.

Colors

There are 21 colors: Beige, Sand yellow, White, Khaki, Gray, Orange, Sky blue, Dark gray, Beige yellow, Dark green, Rust red, Red, Mango, Yellow, Purple, Rose red, Green, Blue, Black, Yellow green and Brown.

Pick a color that matches your siding, fence or patio furniture so the sail looks like part of the yard.

How to hang it

  1. Choose three anchor points that form a triangle around the area you want to shade. Posts, walls, trees and pergola beams all work.
  2. Attach rope, cable or chain to the D-ring in each corner. Mounting hardware is not included, so use hardware rated for outdoor use.
  3. Leave a small amount of slack in the middle. A sail that is pulled flat can tear in wind.
  4. Tighten the lines a little at a time, moving around the triangle, until the fabric is firm but not stretched.
  5. Check the lines after the first few days and tighten them again if needed.

Care and storage

Rinse the sail with water to remove dust, pollen and bird droppings. Let it dry completely before you fold it and put it away. Store it in a dry place when the season ends. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. A quick rinse and a full dry are all it needs to be ready for next year.

Questions

Does this shade sail keep rain out?

The fabric is waterproof, but the sail is designed to let rain through. Water passes through the weave instead of pooling on top, which helps the sail keep its shape in wet weather.

What is included with the shade sail?

Each order includes 1 shade sail. Mounting hardware, rope and cable are not included, so you will need to supply your own anchors and lines.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the distance between your three anchor points. Pick a sail that matches that span, and leave a little slack in the middle so the fabric can be pulled tight without tearing.

Can I leave it up all year?

You can leave it up through the warm months. Rinse it with water when it looks dusty, and let it dry fully before storing it for the off season.
