The Haven Brown HDPE Sun Shade Net is a woven net you hang above an outdoor area to cut direct sun. It suits a patio, a garden, a greenhouse or a pavilion. The material is HDPE, a dense woven plastic that holds its shape outdoors. It is UV-resistant, so strong sun does not break it down the way it does with thin fabric. The color is brown, which blends with soil, wood and brick better than bright green or blue.
This is a net, not a solid tarp. Air moves through the weave, so heat does not build up under it the way it does under a closed cover. That makes it a good pick for plants that need light but not full midday sun, and for seating areas where you want shade without a stuffy pocket of hot air.
Four sizes are available. Measure the area you want to cover before you order, and remember that a shade net works best when it is pulled slightly taut.
| Size | Metric |
|---|---|
| 6.6 x 9.8 ft | 2 x 3 m |
| 6.6 x 13.1 ft | 2 x 4 m |
| 9.8 x 13.1 ft | 3 x 4 m |
| 9.8 x 16.4 ft | 3 x 5 m |
The two 6.6 ft wide sizes suit a narrow bed, a side yard or a small patio corner. The 9.8 ft wide sizes fit a full patio, a wide garden row or a greenhouse roof section. If your space falls between two sizes, go with the larger one and gather the extra at the edge.
This net comes in brown. Brown reads as neutral outdoors. It does not stand out against a fence, a shed or bare earth, and it does not cast a colored light the way a green or blue net can. If you want the shade structure to fade into the background, this is the finish to pick.
A shade net needs support at the corners and along the edges. Common setups include posts, a pergola frame, a fence line or a greenhouse frame. Run rope or cable through the edge and tie off at each anchor point. Pull it snug, but leave a little slack so wind can pass and the net does not tear at the corners.
Angle the net so it faces the strongest sun of the day. In most US yards that means a slight tilt toward the south or west. A tilted net also sheds rain and leaves instead of letting them pool.
For a garden, hang the net high enough that you can walk under it and reach your plants. For a greenhouse, lay it over the roof section that takes the most sun. For a patio, mount it above head height so it shades the seating area without blocking the view out.
You can also use it over a dog run, a chicken area or a parking spot for a car or boat. Anywhere you want less direct sun and more airflow, this net can help.
HDPE is low maintenance. Rinse the net with a garden hose when dust or pollen builds up. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and water, then rinse well. Do not scrub with a stiff brush, since that can pull the weave.
Let the net dry fully before you fold it. Store it flat or rolled in a dry spot, away from sharp tools. At the end of the season, take it down, clean it and put it away. That keeps the weave strong for the next year.
Check the rope and anchor points once or twice a season. Tighten anything that has loosened, and replace worn rope before a storm. A net that is tied down well lasts longer than one that flaps in the wind.
This is a shade net, so it cuts light rather than blocking it completely. You still get airflow and some daylight underneath. That is what makes it useful over plants and over seating areas in warm states. If you need full rain cover, a solid shade sail or a waterproof cover is the better choice. If you need sun relief with air movement, this net is built for that job.
It is made of HDPE, a woven plastic that is UV-resistant. The color is brown.
There are four sizes: 6.6 x 9.8 ft (2 x 3 m), 6.6 x 13.1 ft (2 x 4 m), 9.8 x 13.1 ft (3 x 4 m) and 9.8 x 16.4 ft (3 x 5 m).
Yes. It suits patios, gardens, greenhouses and pavilions. Hang it above the area you want to shade and tie it off at the corners.
Rinse it with a garden hose, or wash with mild soap and water and rinse well. Let it dry fully before you fold and store it.
