The Harbor Waterproof Sun Shade Sail is built from 160 gsm poly cotton with a PU coating. The fabric is waterproof and UV-resistant. It also lets rain through, so water does not collect on top.
Each corner is reinforced with a mounting point. Those corners take the tension when you pull the sail tight, which is where a shade sail needs the most strength.
Five sizes cover everything from a small balcony to a large backyard patio. Match the sail to the area you want shaded, and remember that a square sail pulls tightest when anchored at four points.
| Size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 6.6 x 6.6 ft (2 x 2 m) | Small patios, balconies, single seating spots |
| 6.6 x 9.8 ft (2 x 3 m) | Narrow decks, walkways, side yards |
| 9.8 x 9.8 ft (3 x 3 m) | Standard patios, dining sets, hot tubs |
| 9.8 x 13.1 ft (3 x 4 m) | Large patios, poolside lounging areas |
| 13.1 x 16.4 ft (4 x 5 m) | Big yards, full patio coverage, play areas |
You can pick from Beige, Sand, Gray and Dark gray. Each of those four colors also comes in a version with suction cups. The suction cup versions include ropes and suction cups in the box, along with the single-piece shade sail. The other colors come as the sail only.
If you plan to attach the sail to a smooth surface like a window or a glass panel, the suction cup option gives you a ready way to do it. For posts, trees or walls, the standard version works with rope or straps you already have.
Pick four anchor points that form a square or rectangle that matches your sail size. Attach the corners at the mounting points, then tighten the rope or straps a little at a time, working around the sail. A sail that is pulled evenly holds its shape better than one that is tight on one side and loose on the other.
A slight slope helps rain run off. If you can, set one corner a bit lower than the others so water moves toward that point instead of sitting in the middle. Keep the fabric taut enough that it does not flap in the wind, but not so tight that the corners strain.
For the suction cup versions, clean the glass or smooth surface first, press the cups firmly, then attach the ropes. Check the cups after the first few hours and press them again if needed.
Rinse the sail with water to remove dust and pollen. Let it dry fully before you fold it and put it away. Storing it wet can leave marks and weaken the coating over time. When the season ends, fold it loosely and keep it in a dry spot.
Inspect the corners and ropes once in a while. Reinforced corners are strong, but ropes wear. Replacing a worn rope is cheap and keeps the sail secure.
It is waterproof and lets rain through the fabric. That means water passes through instead of collecting on top.
You get one shade sail. The Beige, Sand, Gray and Dark gray versions with suction cups also include ropes and suction cups. The other colors come as the sail only.
There are five sizes: 6.6 x 6.6 ft (2 x 2 m), 6.6 x 9.8 ft (2 x 3 m), 9.8 x 9.8 ft (3 x 3 m), 9.8 x 13.1 ft (3 x 4 m) and 13.1 x 16.4 ft (4 x 5 m).
Rinse it with water and let it dry completely before storing. Keep it folded in a dry place when it is not in use.
