What this cover is

The Compact Waterproof Grill Cover is an outdoor cover made for smaller grills and griddles. It slips over the top and sides to keep dust, leaves, rain and morning dew off the surfaces you cook on. The fabric is 600D Oxford, a woven cloth with a waterproof finish. That combination gives the cover a sturdy feel while staying light enough to lift off with one hand.

The hem is elastic and runs through a drawstring channel. Pull it snug around the base of your grill and the cover stays put on breezy days. When you are ready to cook, loosen the hem and lift the cover away.

Measure your grill before you order. Check the width, depth and height of the body, not the lid handle or side shelves. If your grill measures close to these numbers, this cover should fit. A cover that is slightly larger than the grill is easier to put on and take off. A cover that is too small will not reach the base.

This size suits smaller grills, tabletop griddles and compact barbecue units. It is not made for large carts with wide side tables. If your grill has folding shelves, fold them down before you measure.

How to put it on

Let the grill cool completely. Hot surfaces can damage the fabric.
Clean the grates and empty the grease tray so nothing sits under the cover.
Set the cover over the top and pull it down over the corners.
Reach under the hem and pull the drawstring until the cover sits snug.
Tuck the loose cord end under the hem so it does not catch on anything.

To take the cover off, loosen the drawstring first, then lift from the front. Fold it loosely and store it in a dry spot when you are cooking.

Care and storage

This cover is easily cleaned. Wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it with a garden hose. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and water, then let it air dry fully before you put it back on the grill. Do not machine wash and do not put it in a dishwasher.

Keep the cover out of standing water. A dry cover lasts longer and stays free of odors. In heavy snow, brush off the top so the weight does not pull the fabric out of shape. When the season ends, clean the cover, let it dry, fold it and store it indoors.
